Declaration of an amended Cradle Coast Regional Land Use Strategy 2010 - 2030

What's new?

The Minister for Planning (the Minister) approved for declaration an amended Cradle Coast Regional Land Use Strategy 2010-2030 (CCRLUS) and to undertake any administrative steps associated with that declaration. Pursuant to section 5A(3) of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993, the Minister has declared by notice in the Gazette an amended CCRLUS. The amended CCRLUS came into effect on 28 February 2024.

After consulting with the Tasmanian Planning Commission, planning authorities in the North West region and relevant State service agencies and authorities in accordance with section 5A(4) of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993, the Minister for Planning has declared an amended Cradle Coast Regional Land Use Strategy 2010-2030 (CCRLUS).

The amendment provides interim updates to allow the CCRLUS to respond to the region’s changing residential land-use needs, remedies document structure issues, and corrects some minor errors and anomalies.

The amended CCRLUS came into effect on 28 February 2024 with the declaration being notified in the Gazette:

The amendment involved textual changes to the CCRLUS to provide greater recognition of King Island’s unique circumstances as a result of its economy, historical pattern of development and isolation.
