Housing Land Supply Orders

Following on from the Housing Summit hosted by the Premier in March 2018, the Tasmanian Government announced that it would introduce legislation to ‘fast track’ rezoning of land to enable the building of more affordable homes in Tasmania. The legislation became effective in July 2018, allowing for individual parcels of land to be rezoned under this new ‘fast track’ process.

Housing Land Supply (Newnham) Order 2019

Pursuant to the Housing Land Supply Act 2018, the Launceston Interim Planning Scheme 2015 has been amended to give effect to the Housing Land Supply (Newnham) Order 2019 by rezoning the land to the General Residential Zone, and applying a modified minimum lot size to the land through a Specific Area Plan.

Housing Land Supply (Devonport) Order 2018

Pursuant to the Housing Land Supply Act 2018, the Devonport Interim Planning Scheme 2013 has been amended to give effect to the Housing Land Supply (Devonport) Order 2018 by rezoning the land to the Inner Residential Zone, and applying clause 9.0 of the State Planning Provisions (SPPs) in a modified form as a Specific Area Plan.

The amendment provides for the land situated at 39A North Fenton Street, Devonport to be rezoned to the Inner Residential Zone under the Devonport Interim Planning Scheme 2013, and also applies clause 9.0 of the State Planning Provisions to the land in a modified form.

Housing Land Supply (West Moonah) Order 2018

Pursuant to the Housing Land Supply Act 2018, the Glenorchy Interim Planning Scheme 2015 has been amended to give effect to the Housing Land Supply (West Moonah) Order 2018 by rezoning the land to the General Residential Zone, and applying clause 8.0 of the State Planning Provisions (SPPs) in a modified form as a Specific Area Plan.

The amendment provides for part of the land situated at 62 Ashbourne Grove, West Moonah to be rezoned to the General Residential Zone under the Glenorchy Interim Planning Scheme 2015, and also applies clause 8.0 of the State Planning Provisions to the land in a modified form.

Housing Land Supply (Rokeby) Order 2018

Pursuant to the Housing Land Supply Act 2018,  the Clarence Interim Planning Scheme 2015 has been amended under to give effect to the Housing Land Supply (Rokeby) Order 2018 by rezoning the land to the General Residential Zone, and applying clause 8.0 of the State Planning Provisions (SPPs) in a modified form as a Specific Area Plan.

The amendment provides for the land situated at 80 Burtonia Street, Rokeby to be rezoned to the General Residential Zone under the Clarence Interim Planning Scheme 2015, and also applies clause 8.0 of the State Planning Provisions to the land in a modified form.
