Have your say - No Planning Approval Required Certificates

Consumer, Building and Occupational Services (CBOS) are seeking your input on implementing a pathway for No Planning Approval Required certificates.

To make this change, amendments will be required to regulatory documents issued under both the Building Act 2016 and the Occupational Licensing Act 2005. Under these Acts, the Director of Building Control and the Administrator of Occupational Licensing, respectively, are provided powers to make determinations regarding certain matters. The changes proposed are to the Director’s Determination – Certificates by Qualified Persons for an Assessable Item and the Administrator’s Determination – Occupational Licensing (Building Services Work).

CBOS have developed stakeholder consultation drafts of the above determinations, incorporating changes to allow persons to issue a ‘No Planning Approval Required’ certificate. To issue this new ‘certificate of an assessable item’, a person must also be licensed as a building services provider in the new category of ‘Planning Consultant’, as provided in the draft amendment to the Director’s Determination.
